NORSK E-FUEL AWARDED TAX CREDIT SUPPORT BY BUSINESS FINLAND FOR PROJECT RAUMA
13th of January 2026, Oslo (Norway)
Norsk e-Fuel AS has been awarded a positive funding decision under Business Finland’s Tax Credit for large clean transition investments scheme for its Finnish subsidiary, Norsk e-Fuel Rauma Oy. The decision grants the project up to EUR 150 million in tax credit support once the facility enters operation.
The Tax Credit Scheme by Business Finland is a large-scale public funding mechanism designed to support major clean transition investments through tax relief. For Norsk e-Fuel Rauma Oy, the tax credit will be deducted from the company’s income tax starting from the year the plant starts operation and may be applied over a period of up to 19 tax years. As the support is linked directly to taxable income, it will only be realized once the project is built and generating activity.
Strategically located on Finland’s western coast, Project Rauma is positioned to play an important role in increasing the supply of synthetic aviation fuels across Finland and Europe. The planned large-scale Power-to-Liquid facility will convert fossil-free electricity, water and captured CO₂ into synthetic fuels for aviation, contributing to reduced fossil emissions while strengthening regional energy security.
The positive tax credit decision reflects strong confidence from the Finnish authorities in the Rauma project and its long-term viability. At the same time, the support significantly strengthens the project’s bankability, making it more attractive to future offtakers and financial partners. This is a key step in advancing green industrial projects and further reinforces Finland’s position as an attractive location for emerging sectors such as the e-Fuel industry.
“Finland’s policy and funding framework gives e-Fuel projects the predictability needed to move forward. That support is essential for companies like ours to bring industrial-scale solutions to market. And in addition, it strengthens Finland’s leading position in shaping a future powered by sustainable fuels,” says Ida Marie Larsen, Funding and Public Affairs Manager at Norsk e-Fuel.
